Let me introduce to you a little bit about Universiti Malaya and the faculty. UM is the oldest and the best university in Malaysia. It has its roots in Singapore with the establishment of King Edward VII College of Medicine in 1905. Later after the split of Singapore and Malaysia, UM Kuala Lumpur was formed in 1962. Currently UM is the only University in Malaysia, ranked in the top 100 universities, no 65 in the QS world ranking. Business and accounting programs were initially offered under the Faculty of Economics and Administration (FEA). Later in 1999, with the interest of providing public policy training, The International Institute of Public Policy and Management (INPUMA) was established. In September 2021 with the new rationalization, the 3 entities, FEA, FBA and INPUMA have become the Faculty of Business and Economics. This have made us to become one of the biggest Faculty in UM which comprises 4 Bachelors, 11 Masters and 2 Doctoral programs.
The faculty family consists of 124 academic staff and 78 support staff. The top management of this faculty comprises 3 deputy deans: Assoc. Prof. Dr Yong Chen Chen [Deputy Dean of Postgraduate], Assoc. Prof. Dr Mohd. Zulkhairi Musthapa [Deputy Dean of Undergraduate] and Datin Assoc.
